Heise

I just got home from Heise, which is a lovely little RV campground where we keep our 5th wheel trailer year round.  I think of it as our "cabin" because it's as close as we are going to get to having a vacation home.  My mom has a 5th wheel next door to ours and we have spent just about every weekend there this year.  I truly love it up there.  I love the sound of the wind rustling the leaves in the trees.  I love sitting on the swing in our gazebo reading a good book and I really love sleeping in!  I usually spend my time reading or doing crafts.  I worked on a pretty ruffled necklace and made more beaded watch bands.  It is the most relaxing place I know.  I can't wait to go back next weekend.

Kid Quotes

Jackson has been keeping us entertained today.  Here's what he has been telling us:

He fell down and scraped his leg.  His teacher wanted to clean it up and he told her "It's my speed owee.  If you clean it I won't be fast."

"My friend pushed me down with his super mind powers."  His teacher said "Your friend has special mind powers?"  He said "They aren't special, they're all lies!"

Chickens

I've always had this romantic picture of rural life.  Never having lived on a farm, I think that my days would be filled with gardening, cooking, quilting, etc.  I know that having animals and crops is hard work but in my day dreams I never have to do any work.  I only get to do what I want which is gardening, cooking, and quilting.  I've told my husband for years that I want a small acreage with a red barn on it.  He asks me what I want to do with a barn and I reply that I don't know, I just want a red barn.
So, all my neighbors have started raising chickens and with my romantic notion of farming I talked my husband into letting me have some.  And I wanted my chicken coop to be.....you guessed it, a red barn.  He spent 2 weeks and I don't know how much money (he won't tell me) and I have the coolest red barn chicken coop.  And tonight we ate our first eggs.  We had fried red potatoes, blueberry cream cheese pancakes and eggs.  It was yummy.  The only difference I noticed was how yellow the yolks are.  We are getting 2 eggs a day so I think breakfast for dinner will become a weekly event.

Eat, Pray, Love

I'm reading the book "Eat, Pray, Love" by Elizabeth Gilbert and I'm already on the Love section.  My daughter and mother are reading it too and then we'll all go see the movie together.  And by together I mean my mom and I will see it in Idaho Falls and my daughter will see it in Jacksonville but we'll go at the same time.  Then we will talk about it.  Just a few thoughts about the book so far.  It's pretty good.  I can't wait to see Julia Roberts in the movie.  It is an interesting journey of someone looking for God, love, and self by traveling to 3 different countries.  It's kind of hard for me to relate to the story though, because I have already found God, love, and I'm relatively secure with myself.  But the book has some interesting parts.  She wrote it in parts that are kind of like chapters.  I really liked part 58.  I should be done with it before the movie comes out on Aug. 13th.  I'll let you know how I like the movie.
